Well what can I say, I am truly blessed with the bestest group of girlfriends, who planned THE best hen do away for me. I wasn’t really told much about the trip at all, I only really found out that we were going to Cannes about 2/3weeks before we went, which was so so exciting. I didn’t really know what to expect as non of us have ever been to Cannes before, or even the south of France, but we know it would be pretty glam!
We all arrived together around 1pm, which was great and meant that we could head straight to the beach for the rest of the afternoon and get some sun. Immediately you got the classy feeling, walking along the promenade past all the high end shops, seeing all the top beach clubs and huge boats out at sea. It was perfect and it got me so excited for what was to come, I mean I never do things like this!! We had a gorgeous lunch and then chilled, slept and went on a crazy ride in the sea, which in hindsight might not have been the best idea, as I got two of the worst friction burns on my elbows and as a bride to be, they wouldn’t have been too attractive if they didn’t go! But we had so much fun and the laughing had begun, I knew that I wasn’t going to stop all weekend.
That night we went back to the rooms and slowly got ourselves ready, we headed out to town for an easy tea and found the best pizza place. We stayed there for ages, playing silly games and just enjoying being together. Finally finishing up around 12.30am we went down to the other end of town where there are two clubs, Gotha and Baoli beach club. The que for Gotha was ridiculous and I didn’t really fancy that type of music so we tried Baoli. It was brilliant! The music was amazing and we got poached by some french guys to basically dance at their table and drink their drinks! haha We had the best night and didn’t stop dancing until about 4.30am
Saturday morning we had a few options of what we could do. We thought about going to Monaco or Nikki beach in St Tropez, but by the time we had all woken up, the train journey down there was a little too long and we really just wanted to be in the sunshine. So the other option was to go to this private island, which you can only get to by boat. The guys we met on the friday night had mentioned they were going and we could hop on their boat, but it turned out he didn’t actually have a very big boat and with his friends we wouldn’t all fit on it. But we decided to take the risk and book ourselves a table for a late lunch. The table was for 4pm so you grab a boat ride over at 3.30pm which meant we had the perfect amount of time to sit in the sunshine on the beach.
We hopped in a taxi all together down to the marina and got the speed boat over to the island, it was a pretty wild ride over, and made us all howl with laughter. We were thrown around like rag dolls, haha!
We arrived at the most beautiful restaurant, the scenery was breath taking the atmosphere was incredible and the food was amazing, it literally couldn’t have got any better. That was until the music kicked up a notch and people started dancing on the tables! Well then we knew we were in for a party! We started having a little boogie at our table whilst we were finishing dinner, and then a lady came over to us and said that there was a VIP table in the main restaurant (where it was going off) which they had reserved for us if we wanted it! HELL YEAH! We moved across into the main restaurant, everyone starring and wondering who the hell we were, it was hilarious and brilliant. Honestly felt a million dollars! The DJ played the best music ever and for the next 4 ish hours we literally didn’t stop dancing. We were on the chairs, the tables, champagne was being sprayed everywhere, we made a massive conga line and generally were just so high on life! It was one of the best days ever and I’ll never forget it. I think the restaurant then closed about 7.30pm so we got our boat shuttle back to the main island and sat on the wall watching the sunset.
As we then walked back along the promenade we noticed that there were lots and lots of people, people looking like they were settling for the night! It was very odd, until we got a little further round and found out it was the UK’s turn in the firework championships that night and they were performing a 20minute firework display over the water. I mean really…you could’t plan it! We grabbed a quick bite to eat in a thai restaurant which was lovely and headed back to the beach to lie on sunbeds and watch one of the best firework shows ever! It was magical and the perfect end to the most wonderful day.
So Sunday morning, we checked out the hotel and headed down to the beach early early. We got beds on Baoli beach club, which by about 11am is full. We slept, played a hilarious games of pass the parcel and just had a really nice, chilled last day. By about 3pm it was time to head back up to the hotel and get ready to leave but before we did that we stopped at a place called steak and shake, who make possibly THE best burger I’ve ever eaten! Holy smokes it was good, and Sophies nutella milkshake thing was also insane! A good stop! ha
Our flights were all at 8pm, Al & Sophie travelling back to London and everyone else going back to Manchester, so once we’d all checked in etc I was given some lovely little packages to guess who had bought what…I only got two mixed up so out of 7 I think that’s pretty good going. One of the wonderful presents were good enough to wear around the airport and on the flight, and my gosh did people love them! One lady on the plane actually asked to take pictures of them because she loved them so much! We also managed to sneak in a very quick Mr & Mrs, and I’m glad to say me and Smurt really do know each other well!
As I’m sure you can see we had the best weekend ever! I missed by babies but wouldn’t have swapped that weekend for anything. The girls nailed it and it got me so so so excited for the wedding and being with them all again, celebrating our marriage and the love we all have for each other. They literally mean the world to me!!
Thank you ladies! xXx
