So we’re there, you are now 6 months old and what a wonderful 6months we’ve had. I’ve mentioned it all lots before about how quickly the time has gone and the last month has been no different.
The colds were still hanging around this month, and I must say that only just now are they finally clearing. You still seem to have a little bit of a snotty nose which is making you cough a little now and again, but I think rather than it being a cold it’s due to teething.
We’ve had a pretty busy November celebrating birthdays and then getting into the Christmas spirit by spending some time down in London for my birthday weekend. We had such an amazing time catching up with friends and enjoying the lights and festivities that London brings. We took Betsie to WinterWonderland and to visit Santa in Selfridges and unfortunately you were sleeping at the time, but she love it. You loved the lights that were displayed everywhere…London is really good at doing Christmas. You also loved all the walking and fresh air, it made you a super sleepy boy and for once you had a really good run of sleeps in the pram.
Once home from London we have started getting ready for Christmas. So we got the Christmas box out and started putting up the decorations…here’s your first meeting with a snowman. I love the expression on your face, it’s been a pretty constant expression looking at all the christmas things, the lights around are just so fascinating to look at.
Over the last week we decided to do some really Christmassy things. I’ve shamelessly started dressing you in Christmas clothes and you and Bets even have a matching set..I couldn’t resist them!! I’m sure you’ll both kill me when you’re older, but now’s the best time to do it! haha
We’ve also visited Santa at the garden centre and as much as you love the lights and decorations in there I don’t think you really noticed the big man, Ha Bets loved him though and it has really got us all in the mood for his arrival now, you don’t have a clue whats going on though, but your sister is so so excited and we are loving making it all magical for her.
When I next write your 7 month post we’ll have had Christmas and New year, so there will be lots of lovely festive things to write about and lots of lovely family time.
But for now lets get onto those milestones…
Food – So you are pretty much doing the same as last month, however now you are having a little more pouch throughout the day, so sometimes we get through about one and a half, plus porridge and now we have introduced some solid food. So far you are really enjoying toast and mainly brown toast, covered in coconut oil. You seem to love sucking it all off and stuffing it in your face. I’ve also tried sticks of cucumber, pepper, avocado and a little biscuit thing, but you are totally not interested in them at all. It’s strange how you’ll instantly pick up toast but you won’t bat an eyelid at the others. We don’t give it you everyday but when we have time for you to sit and play we do. Just today we have also introduced a couple more feeds in the day, because you are waking up in the night two more times than ‘normal’ and I don’t think you really need to be. So you’ve had milk overtime you’ve woken up and overtime before you’ve gone to sleep, so hopefully you’ll have a very full tum and sleep well. (here’s to hoping)
Movement – You’ve totally mastered rolling and you are now so so quick at it. Once you’re on your tummy now you are starting to push yourself up a little better and the knees are starting to be brought in as you try and push off. If you can see something that’s just out of reach, you will lunge yourself forward onto your tum and try your hardest to reach it. Sitting is easy peasy now and you only ever really fall sideways when you’re trying to get somewhere or something. It’s very cute seeing you just sitting there happy and contented, bizarre really because you still seem so little.
Sleep – We have slightly changed bedtime because it was getting far too restricting not letting you sleep after 5pm as you would get so so naggy by 6pm and there have been nights when you’ve needed to be asleep then, which just means a longer night for us all when you insist on having so many extra feeds. So now, we let you have a snooze whether it’s after 5 or not and then we have a lovely bath time and no naggy bedtime, plus you put yourself to sleep and I don’t spend like 20minutes rocking you to sleep. In terms of naps…you have become so so much better. I don’t know what the turning point was, but over the past couple of weeks we’ve had some lovely weather which has meant that you could be outside in the fresh air. I’ve also worked out that I can get you to sleep by just walking you in a strange wiggly motion around the garden. So far we’ve had a couple of 2.5hour stints, which is totally amazing and I’d say the shortest have been around an hour. So hurrah for that, it makes the day so much easier and means that I’m totally on top of the jobs in the house.
Teething- I don’t think we’re going to see any teeth for a while (Betsies didn’t come until she was like 9 months old) but the shakey wobbly head latch thingi has become so so much stronger, literally everything goes in your mouth instantly. You also seem to be really enjoying your forefinger and your thumb in your mouth at the same time. We have also come across some new bibs which are thankfully saving your chest as it was getting so red and sore, we’d noticed you’d even started scratching it, which is just nasty. The bibs are from Zippy Bibs (you can find our review on here) They are super, so soft, thick and fleecy underneath so the dribble doesn’t get through at all. I’ve also bought you a cute little Amber stone teething bracelet, which I don’t know how much its working but it looks cute and you’re totally not bothered by it at all so it’s staying for now. We’ve also introduced some gum soothing bits and a little organic cheek rub, which is full of essential oils and smells incredible. They seem to be helping settle you, so we don’t have to constantly give you calpol to ease the pain.
And here are some more gorgeous photos of you this month…
I think this photo is one of my new favourites!! I love it so so much…your eyes are incredible!
Love you Billions Pudding Pie xXx
