You may have seen already that we have just had the most wonderful holiday to Majorca with my Mum & Dad. Getting away this year was pretty much a non happener for us as Curt had started back at work early July and then we just couldn’t find the time to get away with the dates he had off. Very very luckily Mum & Dad surprised us with the idea of going away in September…Well as you can imagine I was so so excited and so was Bets. Unfortunately Curt couldn’t come out for the 2 weeks but he did manage to sneak 4 days in which was amazing as we didn’t think he’d be able to come at all.
The flight out was a dream, it only took two hours and flying with Mum and Dad was a massive help. Bets sat in between them playing games and watching films, whilst Bodes and I had a whole row to ourselves so he could sleep in his sleepyhead. Yes I stood in the aisle and rocked him for a while, but he didn’t moan or cry for any of it, which I thought he would have just a little bit! We arrived pretty late at night but Bodes stayed asleep in his wrap on me and Bets was a dream and just didn’t seem phased by the late night at all.
Once we had our car, the villa was about an hours drive from the airport and on windy, cross country roads it was a little challenging, but we made it and found the villa in the dark! We got the kiddies straight to bed and I quickly followed as I knew little miss probably wouldn’t really sleep in with the excitement of the next morning creeping up!
We woke up to pretty grey skies…Gutted, but hey it’s fine, because when you’re there for two weeks a grey morning is nothing to worry about and we had jobs to do anyway…unpack, find the supermarket and get some breakfast! We wondered into town and grabbed a bite to eat, just as we were finishing up the heavens opened and we were welcomed by the biggest and longest downpour! It was ridiculous and we took shelter in a shop for a good hour until we dashed back to the car and headed home! A movie afternoon whilst the unpacking continued was in order!
Luckily the rain and the grey skies didn’t appear too many more times, I think over the 14days we only had 3 days of rainy mornings or afternoons and when the weather forecast said it was going to thunder, it tended to blow over pretty quickly. So we had some gorgeous sunny days on the beach and I think we definitely would have had more at the villa if the pool wasn’t so freezing, and when I say freezing I mean like ice ice cold. We attempted it once and that was enough, which was a shame because the villa had so much more to do, but Little Miss just wanted to be in the water all the time, so the beach was the best place for her. We did have slow mornings though, Bodes would sleep in his bed for a morning snooze, and normally by the time he was up for the second time that day, Dad would just be surfacing! So we’d then all jump in the car and head our for the day.
We found some lovely beaches which weren’t too far away. The one which was the closest was Playa de Muro and strangely although being really close to a few hotels it was super quiet. We always managed to get a little spot right near the sea, so Bets could just run back and forth and build castles! We also visited a couple of other beaches that were a drive away and on the last day we dared to do the mountain roads and went to a special little cove beach that is raved about! It was gorgeous, and the drive was incredible, not one for the faint hearted though. There were some real hair pin bends and steep inclines and declines, all whilst trying not to stare at the most amazing views across the sea and mountains. We spent a lovely day there but I’ve got to admit I don’t think it was my favourite beach. A little too narrow for me and there are lots of tourists who come across by boat for an hour or so, so it seems busy most of the day.
It was a super special holiday and one that Betsie won’t forget. She had the most magical time especially seeing her Popsi everyday for two weeks. I think he fully realised how full on she is ha, she literally didn’t leave him alone for the whole 10days before Curtis arrived, then she turned into a Daddy’s girl again. Both the kiddies were an absolute dream and made the holiday so much more amazing. I really couldn’t imagine going away without them anymore, I think I’d get so bored, especially for a long holiday, like a week! I wouldn’t know what to do with myself ha
Here are some of the gorgeous photos we took to store as memories.
Thank you Ma & Pa xXx
