Yesterday was good Friday and Bets and I got a lovely surprise when Daddy told us that morning he wasn’t going to work. (Doesn’t normally have holidays off you see) So Bets wanted to get out her Easter paper mache basket we made the day before and sit with Daddy finishing it off by making accessories for it, they also made some Easter cards for family which we are going to finish today.
I did then have plans for the day, but as the sun was shining and would most likely be the only day over the weekend it was going to shine, I thought we had to jump at the opportunity of doing an Easter egg hunt somewhere. I’d seen a couple of people on Facebook had said avoid Lyme Park at all costs due to traffic, which is fine for us as I wouldn’t go that far anyway, but in the same thread someone had mentioned Hare hill in Alderley. We drove up thinking it would be ridiculously busy but we were pleasantly surprised. We parked in the carpark and once entry to the gardens was paid the hunt began. Bets loved it and really got stuck in, finding the bunnies hidden amongst the bushes and writing down the letters she had to collect to make a secret code word.
It probably took us no longer than an hour, which was just right for her as she was getting a little hungry by the end and would have given up if it were any longer.
Once they had found all the letters they could take their little sheet back to a lady at the front to collect their choccy treat, which was a decent sized Cadbury bunny. They must have gone through a fair few as there was a steady stream of people coming and going and we were there pretty early.
We then stopped for a lovely long lunch, where we stuffed our faces and drank vanilla milkshakes 🙂 it was delish! We thought it’d be a nice idea to pop to Mum & Dads for a bit as the sun was still shining and Bets fancied a bounce on her trampoline. So Daddy stopped in Tesco and picked up some Easter eggs for a little hunt in Hens garden, we told Bets that the Easter bunny had visited and would leave her some eggs to find. She loved it, but Daddy quickly realised he hadn’t hid the eggs well enough as little bee eyes found them all too quickly and easily! Haha
She really did think it was such an ace day though, she didn’t stop smiling other than being hungry, which is totally understandable as we all get a little grumpy when we’re hungry. Ha
Onto the next Easter activities and hunts 🙂
