I’m very excited to say we have now finally finished our bedroom up do…It’s taken 7 weeks and it’s been the best decision we’ve made to do it now. With the arrival of baby boy in June I knew we needed to get it done sooner or later, as there is going to be a lot of bedroom swapping and re-decorating.
Our loft was already converted when we bought the house, there was an ensuite and it was a decent size room, but unfortunately there was just no where to have wardrobes so the only way to make it all work was to do a dormer. The plans were drawn up and it all became very real. We were going to make it a really good sized room with large open space and an ensuite.
When the work started we had a little hiccup in the fact that the boiler had to go straight off, so we had to move out the house for two weeks. Which in hindsight was actually great as the builders could just get on and tear it apart and as Curts’ parents only live 2 minutes up the road, we could pop back to the house for clothes etc everyday. I couldn’t actually believe how much stuff I had accumulated in two weeks, it looked like I’d been away for a good month! Ha
It was amazing to watch the progress they made each day/week. I popped back one day and there was no roof on the whole house, luckily the weather was good, cold but dry. It had just turned absolutely freezing that week, like literally to 1 degree! The house thermometer said that the temp was 8 so I was rather glad we had moved out!
Once the shell had started going up it was clear how much space we were going to have, so it became much easier to imagine how everything was going to work. We actually changed our mind about the layout twice and I’m so thankful we did because it works so much better how it is now compared to what we had originally thought to do.
We’ve used the same colour we have in our lounge as it’s really fresh and as the room is so light, it actually looks a completely different colour. I’ve used really subtle grey curtains and blind as I’m not totally sure what colour scheme (pillows etc) I’ll use yet. I’m just about getting everything organised and then I can start picking my trinklements and where I’ll be hanging photos. We are so super pleased with it and the quality of the finish.
Now it’s time to start princess’s new room, which she’s very excited about. A little bit of painting to be done and then the task of moving her clothes and furniture. I’ve found some super cute wall stickers on Not on the High Street, so they’ll be put on one of the walls as it’s such a big room for a little lady! Can’t wait to show you pictures of that and then the nursery!! Ahhh so much to do 🙂 15 weeks and counting!!
Unfortunatley loads of the progress pictures won’t upload so if you can help me out that’d be great!!
