My bikini body guide progress


It’s been a long time coming that I’ve needed to make a big change to my lifestyle, including my diet. I can be so slack at times and ‘treat’ myself far too often.

I’ve felt sluggish and ‘overweight’ for a while now and it wasn’t until I stepped on the scales I realised why…in about 6 months I had put on around a stone! A full stone!!! What on earth was I doing to myself!
Luckily for me I have a friend who also wanted to radically sort herself out and we weren’t going to let anything stop us. We researched lots of different diets, healthy living options, workouts, teatoxes and so on and so forth, nothing was quite right until Fran found Kayla Itsines bikini body guide. Straight away she knew it was what she needed.
Kayla gives you a detailed workout plan, focusing on resistance training which can be done at home or in the gym, a massive bonus for us, as mummies it’s hard to find the time to get to the gym. The sets of workouts are only 28minutes long and are split across three days of the week, meaning it’s super easy to fit them in and cover all areas of the body 🙂 She also recommends you do 3 LISS sessions and 1-2 HITT sessions with a stretching session in the week too. A LISS could be a walk or a jog and then for me my HITT is netball, as there are so many quick changes in speed during a game.
Not only is the workout guide fantastic but she also gives you a kick starter week of recipes. Following this was actually easier than I thought it would be, I made a conscious effort to buy everything in for that week and follow it to the T! I loved it, found I had loads more energy and became really motivated to carry on. Her Instagram account and hashtags are so inspirational and I have found myself slightly stalking the amazing results women are getting. I have also been given so many great ideas around the whole food thing, I find it hard to be imaginative with food because I hate waste and sometimes throwing ingredients together can go wrong! So far though, following the guides I have only found one thing I don’t like!
I bought a recipe book and have written down all the recipes she suggests, along with a few others I already knew about. Fran also bought the extra 2weeks of recipes just to push us a little further. I’m so so pleased she did because there were some super things in it which I didn’t originally think I would be ‘allowed’. A big thing for me is a little something in the evening, and although Kayla doesn’t promote ‘puddings’ some things she does have in the book are really tasty snacks which I just hold out for and have them after dinner. Eating with a small child at 6pm and then waiting until bedtime is really hard, and with the bad habits we’ve had of munching chocolate all night, I find it really hard to curb it, so as long as I have little something I’m okay.

Don’t get me wrong in the three weeks I’ve been doing it, I’ve treated myself or had things I shouldn’t of had, but in the grand scheme of things I’ve really changed my lifestyle…And it’s showing. Kayla says from the start to take photos every week, this is something I’ve always done because you cannot beat the feeling when you look back and you see how well you’re doing. I’ve now lost 8lbs and feel much tighter and lighter. I have wayyyy more energy and still love the work outs. The sense of achievement after them is fantastic! What’s more is the Instagram community really pushes you to strive for further, to not give up, to realise that the goals are so so achievable.
